Doubling our impact: Planet Wild partners with Ecosia

We’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with Ecosia, the search engine that plants trees. Thanks to their support, we were able to double our impact for April’s mission, where we traveled to Mexico to restore the unique and vital forest habitat of the monarch butterfly.

Why have we partnered with Ecosia?

Ecosia is no ordinary search engine. Every time someone searches using their browser, the ad revenue goes straight into reforestation projects around the world, from rainforests in Uganda to mangroves in Madagascar. In fact, they’ve already helped plant 200 million trees, using 100% of their profits for the planet, and they even made a legal commitment to stay true to their purpose. Ecosia’s mission perfectly aligns with ours, which is why we’re so excited about this partnership.

“We’re genuinely excited to team up with Ecosia because their mission is a perfect match with ours, and it’s all about real-world impact.” - Cameron, Planet Wild

Why do we need to protect monarch butterflies?

A forest of monarch butterflies in Mexico.
Monarch butterflies overwinter in the forests of Mexico — thousands of miles from where they start their journey.

Every year, millions of monarch butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles from North America to the forests of Michoacán, Mexico. It’s one of the most incredible migrations in nature. The butterflies, an army of pollinators, helping to pollinate ecosystems across the continent.

But their winter habitat in Mexico is under threat as climate change, unpredictable weather and illegal logging are shrinking the forest. Without it, monarch populations could collapse, and with them, a huge piece of the planet’s pollinator network.

That’s where Ecosia’s and Planet Wild’s collaboration comes in. Together, we’re adding 360,000 new trees and helping restore 360 hectares of forest, giving the Monarchs a fighting chance.

What this partnership means

This partnership is about more than just funding, it’s about what can happen when two companies with shared values work together. Ecosia has turned internet searches into impact, already planting 200 million trees around the world. Planet Wild is rewilding the planet through monthly missions that bring back endangered species, clean up our oceans, and rewild entire forests. Together, we were able to scale up our rewilding efforts, ensuring that one of the most spectacular migrations in nature survives.

We want our partnership to be a model for future collaborations. Planet Wild is the fastest-growing nature protection organization on YouTube, with nearly 300,000 YouTube subscribers and over 12,000 community members backing rewilding projects every month. When established companies like Ecosia partner with us, they’re not just supporting rewilding efforts, they’re joining a movement of people who care deeply about the planet.

An invitation for future partnerships

At Planet Wild, we help companies fund grassroots rewilding projects that create real and lasting impact. Support nature restoration that’s built on transparency—every mission is vetted, filmed, and shared so you can clearly see how your company contributed. Through our videos, companies will get in front of our community of nearly 300,000 engaged nature lovers.

Ecosia’s support didn’t just help restore forests for monarchs, it showed us what’s possible when companies support nature protection that’s measurable, visible, and meaningful, both for the planet and the company.

Rewilding transforms baron landscapes into lush ecosystems, by letting nature take over.

We believe the best way to protect our planet is together — individuals, organizations and businesses. That’s why we’re calling on more forward-thinking companies to follow Ecosia’s lead.

If your business is looking to step up it’s environmental commitments and be part of something bigger, let’s talk.
