The Problem

Our planet is in multiple crises at once

While climate change gets a lot of attention, we don’t talk enough about how the natural world is vanishing on a massive scale. Biodiversity is not a nice-to-have. It's absolutely vital for our food and water supply, disease regulation, and shelter. Without it, our survival is at risk.

The solution

Together we can rewild the planet

We're bringing back endangered species, cleaning up our oceans from plastic, and rewilding entire forests to give them back to nature.

Our motivation

With backgrounds in filmmaking and experience in both NGOs and startups, Markus Gilles, Jonas Brandau and Andreas Pursian collaborated on numerous projects before deciding to dedicate themselves to environmental protection. Motivated by their shared passion for nature and alarmed by the threats to entire ecosystems they witnessed firsthand, they founded Planet Wild to help protect and restore the natural world.

2022 🌱

Recognizing that the urgent issue of biodiversity loss receives far too little attention, Markus, Jonas, and Andreas conceived the idea for Planet Wild. With a vision in place, they began building a team and planning their first rewilding mission.

2023 🦬

In early 2023, Planet Wild embarked on its very first mission — to protect the European bison. Starting with just 12 initial supporters, this marked the beginning of Planet Wild's journey to rally people around rewilding. By the end of the year, the team had completed nine missions, and the community had grown to over a thousand members.

2024 🚀

In 2024, the Planet Wild community grows to over 10,000 supporters, and the missions expand significantly. With budgets now exceeding €50,000, Planet Wild supports rewilding organisations worldwide, helping to make the planet a little wilder—and we're just getting started!

Our team
